“Big God,” Terrian
Opening her full-length debut, “Give It Time,” Terrian’s “Big God” instantly begs you to press repeat. With its infectious hook and thoughtful lyrics — on which TobyMac holds co-writing credit — “Big God” is the ultimate shimmering pop jam about making God bigger than any problems we face. Terrian really stepped into her own on the explosive single, which she took across the country on TobyMac’s “Hits Deep Tour” and even performed at last year’s Kick-Off Concert just as the song was starting to gain momentum at radio.
“Come Jesus Come,” Stephen McWhirter
The purity of Stephen McWhirter’s “Come Jesus Come” has earned him a spot on numerous playlists this year. The raw, piano-led ballad is as soulful and authentic as the singer himself as he sincerely pleads for the rescue of Jesus to come swiftly. Beyond his music, McWhirter’s story has also captivated fans. The Kentucky native was a former meth addict and atheist before having a transformative encounter with Christ that completely changed his life.
“Counting My Blessings,” Seph Schlueter
The acoustic-led “Counting My Blessings” officially introduced audiences to Seph Schlueter. His name might be hard to pronounce, but his song easily lives rent-free in your mind. Musically interesting and lyrically pensive, “Counting My Blessings” helps listeners keep track of God’s goodness one blessing at a time. Ultimately a song of gratitude, Schlueter is already winning fans over with his distinct vocal and unique blend of folk-pop.
“Good Day,” Forrest Frank
Fans can’t get enough of Forrest Frank’s “Good Day,” his first Christian pop single. The Texas native originally started recording mainstream music under his first name but eventually added his surname as he began releasing songs about his faith. The Baylor alum is also one-half of electro-pop duo SURFACES and an in-demand collaborator who’s been featured on songs with Hulvey, Lecrae and Elevation Rhythm. Full of positive uplift, viral hit “Good Day” showcases just one facet of Frank’s unique musical expression that often combines his sonic influences and defies genre.
“Hallelujah Feeling,” Caleb & John
K-LOVE listeners first met Caleb & John via their debut single, “Hallelujah Feeling.” After spending years playing for other artists, the two men met through mutual friends, immediately hit it off and started writing and recording together. Rock, country, worship and pop all converge on “Hallelujah Feeling” as Caleb & John bring their well-honed musicianship and tight harmonies to the Breakout Single contender. The high-energy hit is the perfect blend of their respective styles.
“The Prodigal,” Josiah Queen
Chances are good you might have heard Josiah Queen’s “The Prodigal” on TikTok before you even heard it on K-LOVE. The 20-something singer/songwriter is blowing up thanks to the track’s organic instrumentation and relatable lyrics. Inspired by the well-known biblical story of The Prodigal Son, Queen’s debut single has put the indie artist on the map. He’s set to release his first album, named after his nominated song, May 24, 2024.
