Jet Trouble is amassing fans at a rapid pace these days thanks to the vulnerability written into every line of his first K-LOVE single, “I Need You.” The vibey original reveals the Dallas-based artist wrestling with God over difficult circumstances beyond his control. At a loss for words, he simply surrenders to his need for a Savior he knows will sustain him.
Trouble, whose given name is James Troublefield, penned the transparent track after his dad was diagnosed with ALS, a degenerative disease that eventually took him to heaven. “I was easily going through the worst season of my life; I felt angry and confused, and a lot of times, my prayer time consisted of nothing more than, ‘God, I need You.’ I needed Him to show up when I was feeling numb, when I felt alone and when I felt hopeless,” the newcomer shares. “This song ministered to me and my family through that season and provided words to emotion we couldn’t always convey. My prayer is that it provides hope for anyone who is listening in the midst of their hardship and suffering and reminds them that God draws near to the brokenhearted.”

The deeply personal “I Need You” appears on the breakthrough singer/songwriter’s freshly minted full-length album, “An Honest Prayer.” Inspired by a diverse array of artists — everyone from Tim McGraw to Jon Bellion — Trouble’s latest music fuses elements of synth-pop, hip-hop and R&B with diaristic lyrics that affirm God welcomes our honesty.
In addition to wading through the loss of his dad, the 20-something musician and his wife have walked through three miscarriages over the course of the past year — a repeat heartache that also shaped his new songs.
Despite the grief he’s experienced in a short time, Trouble’s story ultimately ends in hope. The couple recently announced they have a baby on the way, due New Year’s Day 2026.
